I Mr Byron Brown has been detained in Sydney, and will probably not leave lor England for a few weeks. ~ Sir Robert, Stout has been gazetted Acting-Governor i n; th.Cs Interval between the departure of Lord Liverpool and the arrival of Lord Jellicoe., Miss Loui.se Ma?k, whq is poet tin-' known in Otaki owing to her mountaineering exploit, was entertained at a musical party at Christchurch last week. Messrs Leu Kilmistcr anil Geo.-' Trantrum, A','ho have been fop several' weeks in Sydney and other parts of Australia, are expected to return to Otaki tufiyorrow. Dr. Skermau and Mrs Sherman leave Marton to-day for Wellington on an extended tour to Singapore, India, Europe and the Homeland. They expect to be absent K about eighteen months.
Kapi’cy, "'ho has boon relieving at the Otaki Kaihvay post office for -orae time, leaves to-morrow to take up relieving duties at Adelaide Bond post office, Wellington. Miss Morrison will take charge to-morrow. During Miss Kapley's term of office she has proved most courteous and obliging, and will be much missed by residents. There have been so many changes in To Uoro of late that the old settlerleft may cow be counted on the lingers of one hand. The latest to leave are Mr and Mrs V. Mickell, who have now gone to reside ap Levin, Mr and Mr Mickell are, we believe, practically the oldest settlors of Tc Uoro, where they have lived continuously for upwards of thirty years. During that lengthy period they have proved worthy settiers, and will be missed by a great many friends, who will wish them all success in their new sphere. ============
