The Druids’ ball, held in Brights' Theatre on IVcducmday night, undei most favourable conditions, was large!), aftemled. and all present (including a number from shannon and Lovin' appeared to have a thoroughly enjoyable time. The hall had been simply but effectively decorated with bunting, the floor was in good order, the music (sup plied bv Aliss Kikihann and A[is> Look, piano and violin) was all that could be desired, the masters of ceremonies (Messrs Alex. Bills and Duncan Wilson) were energetic and kept the dancers going merrily, while the supper arrangements. tltank> ;o a hard-work-ing ladies’ committee, wore first-class. Non-dancers wervalso catered for. the stage being set apart for cards, etc. During the evening Dio. Hook. District President, a ■‘•doted by Bro. Eli Allen, conducted an ia-tallntion ceremony. and in this a deal of interest was evinced, it being the !ii>t public installation held in Otaki. The following officers were installedP.A.D.. -Bio. D. Wilson: V.A.D., llru. W. Chaney; A.D., Bro. K. Morgan; secretary. Bro. J. R. Bills: treasurer. Bro. AI. H. Avre; 1.G.. Bro. Bert Kilmi-ter: 0.G.. Bro. A. Bills: A.D.V. ’s. Bros. G. Gordon ami Stan. Pepper; V.A.B.’s. Bro-. E. Thomson and G. K. !?ymomK Dr-. Alex. Bills wit - presented with a I’.A. collar to mark tin- oc-asion of his retirement from hi- term of office. Much of Hie success of the evening was due to Mr O. R. Symomls. who proved a most capable secretary. v,hi,e member- of the Lodge also worked splendidly fur the success of tne gathering.
