DISTRIBUTION OF POWER. At the Horowhenua County Council meeting on Saturday hist a letter was read from Mr W. 11. Field. M.P., stating that on a population basis the power of 24,000 horse would be distributed as follows: Population. H.P. Wellington City ... S-1.04U 12,000 Hutt Valley 20,73(3 3.000 Otaki sub-station .. 5.331 1,300 Shannon sub-station 18,7-5 ",600 iiuunythorn s.-station 27,080 11.500 Dannevirke s.-station 10,591 1,400 100,532 24,000 Mr Field said he thought the Council should consider whether or not ins population basis was a fair one, and if not, what alternative -could they suggest. The Chairman moved it be referred to the special committee already appointed.—Agreed to. A letter was read from L. Birks (P.W. Department electrical engineer) stating that he was sorry to have missed the conference of local bodies, held at Levin on April 24th, but would be pleased to attend at the next conference. Left to the committee to deal with. The Mangahao Hydro-electric Power League wrote forwarding a report on the progre.-.- of the work being done at Mangahao (already published in these The Chairman considered the report mue-n more hopeful than former ones.—Received.
