lIOROWHENUA CHAMPIONSHIP. OTAKI (U) V. R.S.A. (1). Otaki sent a fairly strong team to Levin on Wednesday to meet the newly-formed Returned Soldiers’ Club, and the visitors won very easily by 11 goals lo 1. The home loam included several old players—Whitehouse and Griffith (2) —* but also some raw material, ami they did not show to advantage. Whitehouse was the pick of the backs, and did a lot of useful work. The team will improve with practice. The Otaki boys played a fairly good all-round game. For the winners, M. Gitlens scored four goals, E. Cook 2, A. Adsctt 2, K. Kershaw 2. and J. Ayre 1. TE HORO (3) V. SHANNON (0). Te Horo sent only eight men to Levin on Wednesday to meet the Shannon team. However, though playing three short, the visitors managed to secure a win by three goals to nil. The game was a fairly even one. played in excellent spirit, ami was much enjoyed by all. For Shannon 11. Hook was the best back, while Tnkerei shone among the forwards. There were no outstanding players on the Te Horo side —all played a sterling game. The scorers were: Fitzgerald (2) and B. Cottle. Mr W. Bull was referee. EXCELSIOR (1) v. FOXTON (0). Excelsior journeyed to Foxton and after a strenuous game won only by the narrow margin of one goal. Foxton put a .surprisingly good team in the field, with a fair sprinkling of veteran players. The forwards were well coached, and showed their opponents a point or two. especially in using the line-out. Excelsior may congratulate themselves on a narrow escape. Their goals were scored by Tuohy and Uopa, the latter, as usual, playing a line game. Mr G.
