TE HORO.

"CONCERT AND DANCE. j On "Wednesday night last a success- , ful concert and dance, in aid of the j Anglican clmrchroom, was held at the Te Horo Hall. Despite the prevailing ! epidemic, there was a good attendance, and the function, was a capital one. Owing to quite a number of the pro- i nised performers being laid aside with llness or slight colds, the musical pro- J ;ramme was a short one. However, all , ! f the items were well received. Mr J I. Beauchamp occupied the chair. The ( rogramme opened with a nicely played j c ianoforte solo by Mrs MeCallum, fol- ' iwed by a song by Mrs W. Barber, j The Fairy Pipers.” The audience t mianded more, and Mrs Barber re- ( mnded with “I Wish I Were a Tiny o id.” .Miss Daisy Windier gave a M

humorous recitation in good style, and Miss Pickett, of AJunaknu. contributed two songs, “Mv Ships” and “ Koscs of Picardy,” both items being pleasingly rendered and much appreciated. A humorous item by a number of To Horo ladies, entitled “Looking Backwards,” created great merriment, and was really capitally done. The ladies were attired so as to present a backward view. Their “get-up” was excellent, and they acquitted themselves admirably. Miss Walker, of Levin, proved a favourite, and her two songs, “If I Might Come to You” and “I Wonder ' if Ever the Rose,” were both encored. Miss Walker’s encore item in the first instance was “Life's Epitome,” while she repeated her second song. Ail of these were very nicely rendered, and were greatly appreciated. Air Blackburn sang “Thu Flora] Dance, ” -and Mr Prank I’i'iui gave “The Grey North Sea.” Miss Albie Muir played the . accompaniments with her usual excel- I lent taste, and l his lady is also entitled I to thaiilis for her able management of the concert arrangements. j At the conclusion of the concert Mr j Beauchamp moved a hearty vote of j thanks to the performers. I A plentiful supper was then nerved, | after which the floor was cleared, and ! dancing indulged in, to excellent music supplied by Mrs Day and Mr H. L. Beauchamp. Mr Guy acted as M.C.
