RIFLE SHOOTING.

FRESH FOOD AND ICE CUP.

HAUTERE V. LEVIN.

On Saturday last a team of eigh men from the Levin Rifle Club journeyed to Hautera to try conclusions with the Hauterc Club for the Fresh Food Cup. This proved the hardest contest of the season, and Hauterc only won by the narrow margin of 4 points. It rested with these two clubs which one held it for the year, both having three wins each. The day was ideal for good shooting, there being hardly any wind, with a nice clear light. Although the scoring was goo(, it could have been better, seeing that the llauterc team was six points lower than they wcrc'on the previous Saturday when they shot against AVhareroa, the wind {lieu being much trickier. The ladies turned out as usual and provided refreshments for the team*, and they were given three hearty cheers for doing so. President Jones congratulated the llauterc men, and President Guy responded. , - , . , The shooting was got through without a hitch, and so ended a pleasant afternoon’s shooting. lviticman Mackersey was highest ,-corer with t>9, am for Levin It. On tie? ,(97), A peculiar fcal arc of the match was that three of llauterc’s old members were shooting agaijist their old club, viz,: Riflemen 0. and R. Galley and G. Glackeu. Scores as under: Hauterc.

On Saturday next Whareroa will .hoot Haute re Club for the shield, darting at 0 o’clock at Hauterc. Ihe =ame team will represent Hauterc.
