HOROWHENUA RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Horowhenua Racing Club was held on Tuesday evening last (says the "Chronicle"), the president (Mr James MeLeavey) being in the chair. There were over forty members present. Report and Balance-sheet. In presenting the balance-sheet. th« president congratulated the club on the satisfactory position of affairs. When the club held its restoration meeting in ,I une last, it practically had no credit balance in the bank, but a successful meeting, backed up by another good meeting in Otober, brought about a credit balance of nearly £IOOO. past year had been the most important in the history of the club. As members were aware, the debenture scheme for

the purchase of the racecourse had been carried out, and now the property was leased conjointly by the Racing Club and A. and P. Association nothing should pervent both of these institu-

tions from further successful meetings. The outgoing stewards had shown a progressive policy, and had let a contract for a new stewards' stand, containing offices, weighing and oher necessary rooms, also two lavatories, which, when finished, will be up to date in every way, and should give tho club nianv vears' usage. To ensure further sue,-ess, it. wuld be necessary for the

club to try and re-establish a two-day meeting in place of one day as at present. This would induce owners to patronise the meeting more freely, and the club would no doubt be better oft linancinlly.
