MAXIMUM PRICES.

FIXED FOR FLOUR, BRAN, AND POLLARD. Regulations living (bo maximum prices for Hour, bran, and pollard were published in last week’s “Gazette.” The price of Hour is to be £l(i 10s per ton f.0.1i. at .South Island ports in the wbeat-growiirg districts, less 2i per cent i-f payment is made within seven days after delivery. In the case of a sale otherwise than in this manner, the price shall be equivalent as regards thcsidler to iho price fixed ns the maximum. When the miller’s nearest port is other than Lyttelton, Timaru, or Oamaru, tlie price is to be SIS per ton, | with the same conditions as to payI meat, but there rnny bo added to the I price (he cost of carriage of a tun of Hour from the nearest of these named wheat ports to the nearest port of shipment.

The price of brttu is to be £7 per ton j-.0.b. at Lyttelton, Timaru, or Oarauru, and in the ease of other ports of despatch this amount, with the addition of the. amount of carriage to that port from Lyttelton, Timaru, or Oamaru. which ever is least. The price of pollard is to be £0 per ton, with the same conditions. In every ease provision is made tor a rebate of !M per cent for payment within seven days of delivery. Provision is made for allowing a profit to merchants selling bran and pollard in small quantities. If the sale is of a quantity of half a ton or more the price may be los per ton in the case of bran, anu I3s per ton in the case of pollard, above the scheduled prices already given. In sales of quantities of less than half si ton, an excess above the scheduled price of 12s f.d per ton. for bran and 17s Gd for pollard is to be allowed. These prices are all maximum prices. It will be quite lawful for any seller to -ell at. less than these price®, bat not to exceed them. A clause at the c-nd of the regulations is evidently intended to meet special eases. It provides that the Board of Trade may authorise the sale of flour, bran, or pollard in any specified locality, or by any specified seller, at pricer greater than those prescribed in the schedule of the regulations.
