The Trinners of tlie courpctition.* nt ' the local Golf Club’s opening on Saturday last were as follows: — Ladies’ approaching and putting, ‘ Miss O’Rourke; ladies’ driving, Mrs ■ W. M. Situcox. Men’s approaching and putting, Mr 'p, Simco.x; driving. Mr S. Simcox. There was keen competition in all the events, and very tair term was shown. \ The prizes for last year’s competi- ' tions were distributed by tlie club’s j ; captain (Mr Hcdditeh). Mr P. Situcox ' won the men's championship and two other competitions. Mr R. 0. Kirk two bogeys, while other men winners were Messrs K. llopkins, Griffiths and Hedflitch. The lady winners were Mrs Hodgson and Misses O’Rourke and Situcox. ; If w-as pleasing to sec two veteran enthusiastic golfers—Mr and Mrs W. XT. simcox—on tlfh links on Saturday. Though getting wit in years, both these players wielded the clubs, and took part in the competitions held that afternoon. Mr E. Hopkins (secretary of the club) has received word from Messrs Barra ml and Abraham. Ltd., that the golf balls ordered have not yet come Jo hand, and will probably not be here until the end of the season; thus members will have to make their own arrangements for balls.
