I * - The five aside hockey tournament, j 'Organised l,v members i*t the Otaki I ' (Club, and played on the Otaki Domain Oil Easter Alonday in ideal weather, provided splendid sport for a large .—in fact the croud was probably the largest seen at a hockey gathering 1 since its advent to this district. The ! management committee, of which Mr . A. Arisen proved a most efficient secretary. worked well, while fine service j i was rendered by other members of the i ' club. The ground was in splendid condition, and players were loud ai their praise of this, as well as all other arrangements. Air Alex. Bills rendered good service, while Air G. 11. Fisher was timekeeper, and in this capacity gave great help. The refereeing was done by Messrs 11. Nieolson. Henare Tahiwi. and Renmna. and these gentlemen gave every satisfaction. Several of the games were closely Contested, the pace in many was fast — boo fast for sonic of the participants, TfilO were scarcely in the pink of condi- ' jj o:i while on the- whole the eunhinaJion shown was good. Some fine play ■was witnessed. i pn the semi-final Iluia A. (Wclling- * ton'i had u hard game with Tainui, but ihc latter managed to secure the verdict. The latter then played with Palmerston N.. and another solid game was witnessed. At the call of time one all hud been registered, and play was wntinned, the first team to secure .< bt Und’’ 10 win. This fell to Palmerston, who immediately took the ball from the bully into the eipb. B n. which Tail scored the winning point-
