PARAPARAUMU NOTES.
HOCKEY. (From Our Own Correspondent). A meeting was held in Mr Wise's hall, Paraparaumu. last. Friday night for the purpose of re-forming the local hockey club, which has been disbanded for several years. There was a fair attendance of hockey eniUusiasts, and it was decided to form a club to be named the Paraparaumu Hockey Club. Mr L. Dabseheck was v..ted lo (he chair. Mr C. Brazier was elected lion, soerotary and treasurer Mr 11, Lynch club captain, and Mr !>'. Maclean, jun.. vice-cap-tain.
Tt was- decided to. if possible, adopt black as the club colours
The opinion was freely expressed regretting that the Otaki sub-Association had not been formed, and the majority <of those present did not favour joining the Horowhenua Association, in view of the great loss of lime and the expense of travelling so far. Jt was therefore decided that the secretary should write the secretary of the Olaki Hockey Club with a view to forming the Otaki snb-Associalion. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman. Practice was to commence during this week. NEW BUILDINGS.
Several houses are in course of erection at Paraparaumu, and three which are Hearing completion are delayed owing to the great difficulty in securing a bricklayer to build the chimneys.
THE CHEESE FACTORY. The directors of the Paraparaumu Cheese Factory have entered into negotiations to purchase a site of nearly six acres anu a fine residence situated thereon. The intention is in the near future to erect a new cheese factory as the present one is too small already, and additions to tue present building would lie costly and also inadvisable, as the land on which it is erected is leasehold with only a limited term to run. The new- site is an ideal one for a factory, being nearly all level land and having a splendid stream running through it and sitiuite right opposite the railway station, 'the residenco will be available for the manager. The directors arc to be commended for their foresight in securing sucti a suitable site. The price paid is reasonable, being some £1205.
THE GTJN CLUB. On Easter Saturday the. Paraparaumu Gun Club will visit the local (Whareroa) rifle range and fire a match against the riflemen, and on Easter Monday the riflemen will visit the Gun Club's ground and try their skill in n contest at the clay birds. The activities of the Paraparaumn Gun Club have boon greatly restricted this season owing to the impossibility of securing supplies of clay birds, and Easter Monday's contest will probably see the close of the season for that reason.
