j EASTER TOURNAMENT. j A special meeting of the committee appointed to, arrange matters in connection with the hockey tournament tJ be held at Otaki on Easter Monday was held at Mr Satherley.'s residence last j night. Affairs in connection with tho tournament were reported upon favourably. It was decided that a working bee be organised for Friday morning, \ wtocn the ground will be put in thorough order. It was decided to commence play at 1 p.m. sharp. .The fixtures were drawn up as lows:"--First Round. Levin Y.M.C.A. v. Otaki B. I'alnierston North r. Shannon. Otaki D v. Excelsior D. Iluia A. v. The Otaki Club is to bo commended for the interest displayed in the tournament. No less than five teams have been entered by this club alone. Mr A. Sathcrley, vice-president of the Otaki Hockey Club, has generously donated £1 Is to the funds of the club.
At a. meeting of returned soldiers, hold at Levin on Monday night, it was resolved to form a hockey club, to be called the Levin Returned Soldiers' Hockey Club. The names of some £0 members were handed in. Mr J. C. Neill was elected president. Mr Whitehouso secretary and treasurer. It was decided to affiliate with the Horowhenua Hockey Association. The annual meeting of the Excelsior Club was held at Levin on Monday, when there was a good attendance. The following officers were elected:— Patron. Mr D. Matheson; president, Mr W. D. Ryder; captain, Mr T. Tuohcy; \ i.-c-captain, Mr H. Bell. Trophies won during last scasou were presented ns under:—Most improved forward (Mr Matheson's stick): Mr E. Pink; most ; improved back (Mr Noble's medal), Mr 11. Bell; best, back (Mr Hook's stick), Mr W. L. Williams; best forward (Mr Crystall's stick). Mr Claridge. At a subsequent meeting of the management committee Mr F. Ooodic was appointed couch to fui' club.
