BUTTER AND HEMP. The High Commissioner for Now Zealand forwarded the following cable ■to the Department of Agriculture, the cable being dated the 20th inst.: — “Butter. —No change in price from Government controlled butter, selling at £l3 .'is -Id cwt wholesale, and 3s per ih retail. English free butter, average price is Ms C'd per lb wholesale. From March Mist Irish butter will not lie controlled, and then can be sold without any restrictions. > “Hemp.—Manila market quiet, and prices slightly weaker. Daring this week “.J" grade, .lamiary-Msirch shipment sold £7l. Present quotations .are: January-March shipment. £7l; MarchMay shipment, £*>!> buyers. New Zealand market quiet. Present quotations are. on spot, high-points, £O3; fair (mutilated word ?), £00; FebruaryApril shipments, £6O and £3S respectively."
