Dr. Gow has decided to commence practice in Levin.
Mr Herbert Moffatt, who is leaving for Sydney to-morrow, was entertained ou Monday night by several friends, when a most convivial time was spent.
Mr G. 11. Earwnker, who will fake charge of the I’araparaumu-Packaka-xiki-Waikunae Methodist Home Mission station next month, was on a short visit to Otaki yesterday.
Mr Hector Webby, of the Levin telephone bureau, has received notice of transfer lo Marion, and after a day or so at the Otaki exchange will leave for hi.- new quarters.
The many friends of Mr and Mrs W. H. Field in this district will be pleased to learn that Mrs Field, who has been seriously indisposed for some time, has taken a turn for the better, and hopes are entertained that she will soon have regained her former health.
Mr N. 11. Mackie, district valuer, of Palmerston North, whose services three years ago were requisitioned by the Fijian Government, is leaving for Samoa by the Navua to undertake special work for the new Administration. He expects to be away about three months.
Air Ernest Drake, the well-known New Zealand rimor, is to sing at the KoyH Albert Hall. London, ou April 27th, iu company with Miss Resina Buokman (Mrs D’Oisley), Peter Dawson. and D'Oi.-ley, the famous tenor. Mr Drake is continuing his studies under Mr Uttiey, who taught Air E. MacCormick.
The death is reported from California of Richard Bullock, known as “ Dead wood Dick,” about whom many books, popular with youthful readers of jess * studious tendencies, have been written. Mr Bullock was one of the famous Homes take Mining Co.’s: fullion guards.
The Prime Minister (the Eight Hon. IV. F. Ma-sey), who celebrates bis sixty-fourth birthday next Friday, contine* s to make excellent progress toward-- recovery. It is expected, how-
ever. that he will not be able to leave hospital for some days yet, and that he will not be fully at work again until after the Easter holidays.
Votes of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr David J. Nathan and the late Mr Harknc-s. of Te IToro. were passed at the meeting of the committee of the Manawatn Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The services of the late Mr Nathan were eulogistical!;" referred to by Mr Hugh Akers, the Association’s president, who also stated that Mr Hark ness was a son of Mr J. G. Harkness, who sat for no me years cm the management committee of the Association, and is now secretary of the National Dairy Association.
