Mr Earwaker, of the Johnsonville circuit, has bees apiwinted home missionary in charge of "the southern end of tee Otaki circuit, and will take ar- residence a. Mrs and Miss Bobiuson, of Otahuhu, Auckland, arrived at Manakau on Saturday last, on a visit. They are guests of Mr and Mrs Howard Andrew.
The Kcr. W. G. Slade, M.A., and Mrs Slado returned to Otaki on Friday hist, from Auckland, where the Kev. Slade attended the recent Methodist Conference.
Mr E. Manson, of Waihoauga, mot with an. unfortunate accident last week, when ho ran a large hook into his foot. Medical advice was sought, and luckily the injury is healing nicely. At the Horowhenua County Council meeting on Saturday a vote of condolence was passed to Cr. Harkness, who recently lost his brother (Mr K. D. Harkness), and also to the other relatives of tlio deceased.
Dr. O'Callaghan (late of the. To Waikato Sanatorium, Cambridge) visited the Otaki Sanatorium on Friday last. It is understood that Dr. O'Callaghan will bo placed in charge of tho Sanatorium.
Miss B. Foley, an inmate of the Otaki Sanatorium, died at that institution last night, aged 35 years, after a lengthy illness, borne with great tortttude. Deceased camo to Otaki from Wcllingtes. aomc years ago. She was for some time ou (the staff at the Sanatorium, and during her slay here was a general favourite. The Kev. G. F. l'ctrio had the misfortune ou Sunday to meet with a mishap while on his way to conduct service at Waihoauga. The driver bad occasion to alight from the vehicle to open a gate, and on doing so placed the reins ou the back of the horse—always looked upon as a very quiet one. The animal, however, took fright at some motor cycles, and bolted up (ho hill at a good rate, leaving the rev. 'gentleman no option but to got out tho best wav he could. He clambered out of the back of the vehicle, and was thrown heavily, receiving slight abrasions and a. shaking, despite which he conducted services beta at Waihoauga and at Otaki in the evening.
