FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE.

PROPOSED BRANCH AT PALMERSTON NORTH. A large number of farmers met on Thursday afternoon at the Farmers' union rooms, I'almorston North, for the purpose of considering the advisablcness of establishing a local branch of Ihe Xew Zealand farmers' Co-opera-tive Distributing Company, T.td. Mr lames MeLeavey was voted to the chair. Mr A. Leigh Hunt, general manager of the company, was present by invitation. The meeting was of a highly enthusiastic character, and unanimously decided to invite the company to open, a local branch for the supply of farm-

ers' requirements. A committee was formed for the purpose of furthering the project on the directors of the company giving effect to the request. It was indicated that there will be no difficulty in subscribing the necessary ea'pital, and that a very large volume of trade awaits the opening up of the Farmers' Co-opera-tive movement in the Manawatu.
