OTAKI VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
A meeting of members of tho above was held at the brigade station on Monday night last, when Captain Eassctt presided over a small meeting. TEo Bain object of the meeting was the nomination of officers for tho ensuing year, and the following nominations'were received:—First lieutenant, Mr E. Irvine; second lieutenant, Mr E. Batten; bon. secretary and treasurer, Mr n. Cockrell. No nominations were received for the position of captain of tho brigade, and this office was held over for the time being. A Tetter was read from the newly - formed Foxton Fire Brigade, asking for particulars as to engine, equipment, etc.—Details hail been supplied by the secretary. Permission was given to tho Ratepayers' Association to hold meetings at the iirc station, free of cost. Various matters were discussed informally.
