Track improvement on an extensive scale has been carried out on the Otaki course, whilo extensions are being made to the urea adjoining the roar of the totalisator house. Once this is jeEeeted the extra convenience will be appreciated.

Sasanof, who is now in his sixth year and still going; strong, cost his owner, MMV. G. Stead. £4OO as a yearling, and up to and including last week has started 4S times, his placings being as follows: First 16, second 12, third 7, unplaced 13, and his winnings amount to £18,465 not bad interest on the original purchase money. A race between Sasanof. Gloaming, and Amythas over a mile and a-quarter would bo some go.

According to a Melbourne paper the legislation of the totalisator in Victoria is not far distant. Amythas heads the list of winners this season, his earnings being £4370. Amythas was purchased as a yearling by the Messrs Riddiford Bros, for 300 guineas. Subsequently the son of Demosthenes was turned over- to Mr F. S. Easton, but the price has not transpired. Amythas has done ail his racing in Mr Easton's colours. Demosthenes has sired winners of ovct £IB.OOO in stakes this season, and will probably beat Martian's record Of £22,951 at the end of the season.

According io a Melbourne paper, negotiations are in progress between the Melbourne representative of an Indian and the owner of Gloaming for the sale of the gelding.
