LEVIN’S MARDI GRAS.

Tho guessing competition promoted bv the Hokio Committee in connection with tho Mardi Gras was won by Miss H. E. Bowen. The competition consisted in guessing the total number of votes polled by the four Queens in the contest, and the prize was a suite Of furniture.

Tho number of votes polled by the Queens was 330,605. The nearest guess was that of Miss Bowen of 331,181, and the next Mr W. M. Clark of 330,010, Miss Bowen thus winning by 25 votes. Nearly 100 guesses were received within the 300,000 mark. Approximately 1100 guesses were made, some, no doubt, cast in the first week of the carnival, being so low as 40.000, whilst some optimistic individuals let their fancy run to 8,000,000. Other winners were: Blue cushion, Mrs J. Harvey; pink cushion, Mrs D. Stuart. i
