MT. HECTOR TRACK.
: Mr W. H. Field, M.P., has received jthe following letter from the Tourist Department relative to track improvements over the Tararuas from Otaki to iGreytown:—
"I am directed by the Hon. the Minister iu Charge of this Department Jo aeknoweldge the receipt of your letter of the -eth ultimo, and, in reply. to state that the amount available from 'Jbis Department V appropriations for current financial year is limited to £IOO, but it is noticed that the Public Works Department )k" appropriations amounting to £7O" for Groytown-Mount Hector-Otaki roadster tra<k>. The expenditure of £IOO for the erection of a hut at Table Top will be authorised, subject to specifications.for the building being approved by the Department. The question of this Department making a "rant for t' nut between Mounts Hector and Field, and extension of the hut at Mount Alpha, is being held over for consideration after it is known jwlini expenditure will be authorise! by the Public Works Department. '
