CRICKET.
A cricket match of interest was played on Mr Inge’s ground at Manakau on Saturday between the Mukara and Manakau Clubs. In the first innings each side made 27 runs, while in the second Makara scored 49 and Manakau 42, thus giving the visitors a narrow win by seven runs. Jack Bryant and W. Nees batted well for the home boys, while Ivofoed and Davies were tin! chief bowlers. The visitors
were royally entertained at both afternoon tea and luncheon, and spent a most convivial time. Among the ladies who were, well to the fore in assisting were Mesdnmes Blair and
H. G. Bryant. The following players will represent Tc Horn in their match with Shannon at To Boro on Saturday next: —Eagle (2), Griffith (2), Larsen, Barber. Fitzgerald. J. Rodgers. Cottle, McCarthy, Windliiy. Emergencies: Puli and Marino. TE HORO DEFEATS Y.MiC.A.
The Y.M.C.A. Te-Moro fixture played at Levin on Saturday proved one of tho poorest dispkfVs seen during the season. The local side, batting first, were all out for the miserable total of 20, a resull brought about mainly by the bowling of Rodgers, whose slow breaks were too tricky for Y.M.C.A. The bowler took seven wickets for 11 runs, a good performance, and did almost as well in the second innings. Te Horo managed to knock up 36 in their first venture, giving them a lead of 16. In the second innings Y.M.C.A. did a little better, and reached 50. Te Horn’s seeped effort produced 39, which gave the visitors a'win by T live runs.
