LEVIN MARDI GRAS.

BIG DAY ON WEDNESDAY.

Much interest is being taken throughout the district in the big function to be held at Levin on Wednesday in connection with the Mardi Gras, in aid of beautifying Levin. The decorated motors aud other vehicles should make a brave show, while the' athletic events, swimming sports, etc., will arouse, much interest. A very big attendance is expected. A whole holiday will be observed at Levin.

THE QUEEN CONTEST,

The workers for the various queen candidates are working most energetically. At latest reports the following was the state of the voting:— Votes. Fairfield Queen 10,541 Maori Queen 8,324 Sports Queen 0,974 Hokio Queen 3,320
