SPORTING.
G. Young is at present at the head of the winning jockeys' list, with 364 winners. Mr Skipwitli has been re-appointed starter to the Dannevirke Club. Dr. A. Iv. Newman, who races several horses, is at present lying ill in a private hospital in Wellington* It is stated that at a recent race meeting, the starter gave one of the boys a lolly or something to stick in his mouth to keep him from continually singing out about being squeezed at the barrier.
Satisfaction (Bezonian —Satisfaire), a winner at Wairio and Otautau, was bred at Wailcanae, and is a four-year-old full sister to Weary Willie. It has transpired that Mr W. E. Bidwill was acting for a Wairarapa lady in his purchase of the Martian—Nerve colt and the Martian—Vieclla colt, who were bought respectively at lOOOgns and TOOgns at the sale of the Waikanao yearlings last week. It is reported that Mr G. L. Stead is likely to take up his permanent residence in the Waikato shortly*
A well-known jockey was robbed Of £73 while he was in Wellington for the recent races. The money was taken out of his clothing while he wa3 asleep.
