LAWN TENNIS.

MASTERTON TOURNAMENT.

In the Masterton tennis tournament on Thursday last, in the men's championship singles, Bee beat P. Tahiwi, after a strenuous light, 11 —0, I—6>1 — 6 > o—4. Cuff beat Sievers, o—o,0 —0, 6 —l. In the men's championship doubles Scriutgeur and Tahiwi were beaten by Edmundson and Park, S —l, B—3, while Sievers and Bee beat, Martin and Webb, o—4, 6—3.

In the men's handicap singles Tahiwi (20). beat Hotter (30), 70—48. In tho men's handicap doubles, Sievers and Bee (12) boat J. D. Hutchinson and Williams (20), 70—18.

On Friday the tournament was advanced another stage. Sievers and Bee scored another win in the championship doubles, beating Page and Ford Hutchinson, o—2,0 —2, o—4. P. Tahiwi was defeated in the second round of the handicap singles, being beaten by Riehardscm, Do—l 4.

Play was continued at Masterton On Friday.

Sievers secured another win iu the handicap singles, defeating Perry 50—43, while Bee and Seivers were defeated in the Championship Doubles by Peacock and Salmond, ft—l, 6—2. Noble and Tahiwi (17) were defeated in the Men's Handicap Doubles by Welch and AVeleh (10), 50—3.1. Owing to continued wet weather the tournament had to be abandoned, none of the matches being completed. WELLINGTON LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. The final for the Wellington Ladies' Singles Championship, held oyer from the Wellington championship meeting, Tvas played at Masterton on Friday, between two sisters. Mr- K. Booth and Miss R. Hughes. It proved a very exciting game, strenuously contested, and was won by Miss Hughes. B—fi. 7—5.

OTAKI COMPETITIONS

Owing to the rain on Saturday none of the competition matches were played at Otaki. As the first round for all the convpeTitious must be completed by Saturday next, players should endeavour to get their games, played as soon as possible.
