MAORILAND PICTURES.

“Fedora,” a great star, will be the leading .film to-morrow night, and in this Pauline Frederick should be seen at her best. There are many exciting passages. Supports will include a fine attractive comedy and interesting topical films.

“THE SENTIMENTAL BLOKE.” The Sentimental Bloke, Doree* and Ginger Mick have been immortalised to most Australians. Fully a million people in the Commonwealth and New Zealand have laughed, and sometimes cried, over the coloquial sentiment of the Bloke, and followed his career from two-up player to orchardist under the guiding intluence of Doreen. Now those eharacters are to be brought before the 890,000 weekly patrons of the motion .pictures, for C. J. Dennis’ story, “The Sentimontal Bioko,” has been adapted to the screen. And it has been done well.

Mr E. J. Carroll, who has acquired the sole world’s exhibiting rights of this super picture of x>ower and prestige, has appointed Mr Leo. D. Chateau, late of the “International Atractions, Ltd.,” to control the handing throughout New Zealand.

Mr Dennis himself chose Air Arthur Tnuchcrt for the role of the Bloke and Miss Lottie Lyell as Doreen, and those characters have only to appear for a few minutes in the film to provide positive proof of thew- right to be there. The picture itself is a distinct achievement, reflecting the whole spirit of the book, with every word of subtitles taken from “Tho Sentimental Bloke,” and thus even more firmly establishing the connection between book and picture.

“The Sentimontal Bloke” will be ihown on Monday next.
