METHODIST CHURCH.
OTAKI CIRCUIT MEETING.
The quarterly mooting of official* of the Otaki Methodist circuit was held si Otaki last night, when the Rev. W. G. Slade, M.A., presided over a small attendance.
The balance-sheet presented by the treasurer showed that there had been a credit on tho quarter’s working of about £9, tho deficit being reduced by this amount. Most of the centres showed an increased income for tho quarter.
It was decided that harvest festival* bo held throughout the circuit during the current, quarter, the proceeds to go to the circuit fund; also that a special collection for Trust purposes be taken up at Munnkau (church anniversary). Resolved that one Sunday morning collection at Otaki tie given to t!io Railway Sunday School, on tho oct sion of the school’s anniversary * vices.
After discussing the matter of velope contributions, ii was r' i that, in future these contrib'ui ,/ should not be included in any collections devoted to special objects, and be not included in any averaging of collections. .
Sunday school reports were regarded as fairly satisfactory, though it was regretted that there was a. shortage of teachers at the Otaki Sunday school. The matter of appointment of circuit representative to conference was left, to the Rev. Slade to arrange. On tHe motion of the chairman, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the circuit stewards for past services, Mr Frank Ponn ro-electcd one of tho
•towards, and the appointment of tho second steward was left in the hands of the chairman and Mr Penn, who were deputed to interview a member not present at tho meeting. Mr G. IV. Kirk (missionary agent) reported that tho sum of £3 1-is 3d had Loon collected during the quarter for Foreign Missions, and £2 Its 3d for Home Missions. Tho, II.M. effort for I tie year had produced £26 13s 2d. ReUirns were not vet complete. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr H. Vowell for splendid services rendered ns Horne Mission supply at the lower end of the circuit for several months.
It was resolved to hold the jj<yit looting at. Otaki on April 14tli, at 1.30 .m., the hour being fixed to «uit tho onveriiencc of representatives from iie southern end of the circuit.
