HOROWHENUA SHOW.

I —♦ — EECOED ENTRIES RECEIVED. The prospects for the show next week arc very encouraging. There « a big increase over the entries receiver!' last year, and the stock classes in particular have tiller! well. An innovation lat the forthcoming show will be the sheep dog trial,/for which a dozen entries have been received from all parts of the North Island, and excellent competition is promised. The. Association is making a number of improvements at the grounds. These include new covered pig pens, which arc being placed near the cattle pens, and water is being laid on to nil the j stock enclosures and stands, so that the grounds are being made as convenient for exhibitors as possible. Other necessary work is being attended to, so that : nothing will be lacking on the part of . the Association to promote, the success of the exhibition. . Already a total of 700 entries have I cooio to hand, an increase of over 200 | as compared with last year, 'the total | quoted is not final, as many entries i notified by wire have not yet been rc- ] eeived, so that it is safe to say that tho i grand total will be well over SOD. bo far horses and competitions are. represented by 270 entries, cattle by 300, sheep 125 and pigs 30. Tho response thus far has greatly exceeded the Association’s expectations, and a solid in- | dication that its progressive policy in having a two days’ show is strongly approved.
