F. Carmont’s stable at Levin is at present in trouble owing to "horse influenza," which developed after the return of Sweet Tipperary and American Beauty from the Cup meeting at Christchurch, At present half a dozen horses are on the sick list. Sweet Tipperary is, however, practically fit again, and hopes to race at Martoa. American Beauty will not race till the autumn. Rongopai and Utuwai had the sickness in the worst form, and will j probably be spelled for some time. ! Gang Awa’ and Lc-panto are only j slightly, indisposed, and everything is being done to keep them from getting the malady in its worst form. Ladify has gone south in charge of M. Lee, and will race at various Mest Coast meetings. Fred Carmont expects to remove his training quarters to Foxton early in the new year. ______
