MANAKAU NOTES.

I Last-evening the Manakau Methodist j Ladies’ Guild held a gift social in the supper-room of tho public hall, which had been very nicely decorated for the occasion, and presented an attractiveappearance. There was a goodly gathering, Mr Les. Atkins presiding. During tie ftvening Mrs Les. Atkins contributed two songs, Miss Ada Burnell and Mr Trevethiek recitations, Miss Parlow gave a song, and Mrs Andrew and Miss Robinson a pianoforte duet. Competitions caused considerable amusement, one being won by Master Reggie Nees and two by Mr Les. Staples, Supper was also provißed. A goodly nuaiber of gifts were received, aud these, together with the door takings, will be of material assistance at the special effort to be held early .in the new year in aid of the church funds. The social was a mosrenjoyable and successful one. Mr IV. Dalzell returned to Manakau yesterday, after an absence up north on business.
