THE FLOWER SHOW.
TO-DAY’S DISPLAY. A BEAUTIFUL EXHIBITION. The Horowhcnua Horticultural and Industrial Society has been most unfortunate with regard to the weather for to-day’s Spring Show. Yesterday a nasty westerly wind played sad havoc with tho gardens, spoiling the delicate ; flowers, and to-day a steady rain is falling, which is sure to affect the attendance. The Show is a splendid one on the whole, and well worthy of patronage, and we heartily recommend all lovers of the beautiful to make a visit of inspection. It will well repay them. The roses form a most attractive display. Exhibitors hail from as far away as Levin and F.ongotca, and make a glorious show. The other cut blooms arc very fine also. Schoolwork is a good class, there is a large exhibit of needlework, while the cookciy sections are well patronised. The decorations are few in number, but very artistic. Mr Frank Mason has staged a very attractive display of cut blooms —roses, etc., which are attracting much attention. Many pf the newer varieties of roses are among his collection.
The refreshment rooms are in excellent hands,- and JTlieeial provision has been made in this direction, whßo a sweets stall is well laden with dainties that are sure to sell well.
Despite the wet weather it is hoped the public will toII up in force and accord the show their patronage.
