In seven days ’ racing at Christchurch (racing and trotting) the sum of £477,813 was put through the totalizator. The Auckland Provincial Employers’ Association is requesting the Government to fix the date of the elections as December 10th if . possible, it being considered that if the elections are held later there would be great dislocation .of holiday business. A long-nigbt dance will be held at Te Horo on Friday night next, in aid of .the To Horo school funds. Capital arrangements are being provided for the function, which is sure to be an enjoyable affair, and a large attendance is assured. Details are advertised. A daring burglary was perpetrated at Grey Lynn, Auckland, early on Saturday morning, a cordial factory being broken into and the safe in the office blown open. About £3O in cash was 1 secured by the thieves. Mrs Uma Taipua (Kahurangi) tenders her sincere thanks to all kind friends for expressions of sympathy, etc., on account of her recent sad bereavement.
