THE RAT THAT TURNED.
Tile unwary person who pursues a rat with 'the' intention; of killing it will learn a lesson from the experience of Hr D. Reid, butcher, of Auckland (states the "Star"), who for some days now has been suffering from blood poisoning. Tin; venomous little creature was bailed up at the time, and was just about to meet his fate when he did his worst, and with the bite that poisons vanquished his opponent ov nipping him on the finger. The poison, travelled . quickly through the system, and very quickly Mr Eeid was an invalid, with the appearance of a person who had recovered from an (.'attack of influenza. He has received medical treatment,' and is improving, but is not by any moans back to his normal condition, and has yet to receive more of Lire treatment that is counteracting the effect of the poison.
