SPORTING.
Inquiry at the Christchurch Hospital elicited the fact that F. W. Ellis, who was injured at the C.J.C. races at Ricearton, was suffering from a fractured skull, two broken legs, a broken arm, and broken ribs. In spite of his injuries his condition was reported to be better than at the time of his admission, and consciousness was returning.
