DISTRICT NURSE.

FOR WAIKANAE & RIKIORANGI. At the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, held yesterday at Palmerston North, only one application was received for the position of district nurse for the AVaikanne and Rikioi-angi district. As the | applicant had not secured a certificate in midwifery—considered a necessity—the meeting decided not to appoint the applicant, but to call for fresh application in the Dunedin and Christchurch newspapers. As it was recognised that no unnecssnry delay should occur in filling the appointment, it was decided that applications should be dealt with by the Chairman and Dr. Whitaker. It was also resolved to write the Matron-in-Chicf of the Public Health Department, soliciting her advice and assistance in filling, tho appointment. The secretary was instructed to arrive at a definite understanding will: tho Waiknfiac district committee with resepect to provision of rooms and board for the nurse when appointed.
