THE HOME MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce has received tho following cablegram, dated Bth inst., from the .High Commissioner for Now Zealand, Loudon: — Meat.—No change in prices, but on account of large quantities here and also on the way from Now Zealand, it is e'xpected that prices of imported mutton will be reduced by 2d per lb next week. Butter. —It is reported the Government has purchased SO,OOO casks Danish, to be shipped during the next four months. It is understood that prices c.i.f. aro £lO 16s per cwt, against £J4 2s previously. Hemp.—Manila market firm. Spot demand is good. "J" grade, OctoberDecember shipment £sl, January-March shipment £-10 10s. Output from January Ist to September. 30th was 502,000 bales, against 1,028,000 last year. Stocks manila are 435,000, as against 203,000, due to shortage of freight. Commencing December shipment, the rate of freight for hemp from Philippines to Great Britain will be increased from £l2 10s to £ls 2u (Jd per ton. New Zealand, market quiet but firm. High-points OctoberDecember shipment £47 10s; fair, £46. Wool. —Market remains firm and demand continues brisk. CLEARING SALE. Tho N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd., report:— At Manakau on we held a clearing sale of dairy stock on account of Mrs E. Galloway. The cows were a good lot and sold freely at the following prices: £lO. £l4 ss. £IS 10s, £l9 15s, £2O 10s, £2O 15s, £23. £23 10s, £26, £2S 10s; small store pigs 42s 6d, light harness gelding £S ss. On account of other vendors, cows in milk £l6 to £l7 15s, yearling heifers £3 5s to £9, yearling 'bull £3.
