Mr Myers suggested fo. the Prima Minister on Friday that, in view of the acuteness of the domestic service problem, he instruct the High Commissioner to arrange for getting a number of domestics sent out by each boat, seeing that there was an excess of women in the Old Country now, and plenty should be willing to come to the Dominion.
Mr Massey replied that the earliest possible moment to bring out women for domestic service could be when all our soldiers were back.
Mr Myers: That is about the end of next month, I believe!
Mr Massey: Yes, but there is also a targe Etimber of civilians waiting to return.
Mr Heaton Rhodes: Over three thousand civilians.
Mr Massey: I can assure the member that a vigor6us immigration policy will be put in hand as' soon as ever it is possible.
Mr Myers: On the principle of "ladie* first, "T presume? Mr Massey: Oh, yes; we will give the, ladies the first chance! (Laughter.)
