MANAKAU.
METHODIST .GUILD SOCIAL. Last night a social gathering, organised by the Methodist Ladies’ Guild, was held at the Methodist Church, to assist the Guild funds. The church was filled, among those present being several visitors from -Levin and Otaki. The Kev. H. Daniel occupied the chair, and kept things going merrily. The programme included organ solo by Mrs Andrew, songs by Miss Walker (2), one encored. Rev. Daniel (2), Messrs Andrew, T. Vincent, Sutherland, and Penn (2)1 ’ Kev. Daniel created much merriment with his recital of “How McDougall Topped the Score,” while Mr Andrew contributed a reading. Tour little girls—Margaret Clifford, Mom Blair, Maud Bennett and Nancy Andrew—sang a couple of songs very sweetly and prettily, three of the same -iris also gave a. trio pleasingly, while Nancy Andrew sang a solo, with chorus, to the enjoyment of all. The programme was much appreciated by all. , Afterwards supper was handed round, “ the ladies, as usual, providing a splendid repast. _% Messrs Nattrass and Harris’ large motor car, which was recently badly damaged at Manakau through a collision with a train, has been fixed and the owners intend to take it to Wellington to-dav.
Some 13,0001 b of milk are being received daily at the Manakn*i factory, la less than thjee weeks the supply ha greatly increased.
