BOWLING.

The official opening of the Otajji Bowling Club took place on Saturday, when the President and Vice-President ployed a match, with the result that tho latter won, -10-3-1. The patron (Dr. llutliwaite). in opening, made a neat speech, stating that the club had met under more favourable conditions than lor five years past, owing to the war. He. also made feeling reference to the loss the club had sustained by the death I of leading members, congratulated the j club on its financial position and increased membership, and referred to the ! fast that the club had now a freehold j green. He advised members to work I in the interest of the game, and asked j them, when playing, to take the advice of their skips. .Mrs Huthwaite then ' played the first bowl, amidst applause, j after which afternoon tea was served j by the ladies.
