KAPITI ISLAND.
The Hon. D. 11. Guthrie, Minister for Lands, stated, in reply to Mr W. H. Field, M.P., that the Government has not yet completed the purchase of the remaining native interests in the island of Kapiti, but proposes to do so as soon as practicable. For this purpose special legislation is being prepared. As regards the general policy respecting the island, several representations have been made on this point, and it is intended to go into the whole matter during the recess with a view to seeing what is best to be done for the future, and whether it is advisable to set up a special board to supervise the manner in which the island is to be dealt with.
