FRENCH LOTTERY.

ITALAN SCHEME TO RAISE £1,200,000,000. It seems as if the lottery scheme put forward by Signor Luzzatti, the Italian financier, is likely to materialise, in spite of its daring extent and huge prizes. The scheme is being seriously considered by M. Labroue and other members of the French Chamber of Deputies. It is proposed to issue tickets of 16s each, to a total amount of £1,200,000.000 and to distribute one-fifth of the total in prizes.

Drawings would be as for other loans, once a month for five years, and it is suggested that at each drawing 100 prizes of £IOOO each should bo the principal attraction, though a scale going right down to £-1 is being considered.
