PARAPARAUMU BOY SCOUTS.
Dominion Night was celebrated is I'araparauinu by a grand di.-phj given by the Boy Scout*. Despite tb* unpromising weather a large number <*? residents and visitors from all part** of the district met in the Sunday schoolroom. The display was decidedly unique B character, the centre of the floor spat* being cleared for the performers, while seating accommodation was arrange! round the hall and on the stage for tit audience. Promptly at 7.30 the patrol' fell in, and while saluting the flag sasj ‘‘God Save the King.” The varies* leaders then took charge of their patrols and marched past saluting b»»* in fine style. A series of lively scout games were given, each designed to develop quietness. and endurance in the lads, several of the contests between tile boys, e»P 4 ' dally in the pushing and neck tug-ef-war, were warmly applauded. ■' Tt# physical drill was very neatly done. During a short interval sweets, w!lie* had been donated by parents friend*," were sold, a’brisk bmdne* being done. Pillow fighting os the created much amusement, some of tte smaller boy* especially providing kce* contest-. * As. a final the troop in horseshoe shape formation sang some fle* troop song*, and recitations and dam** were given by Leader O. Mac Lean, Cor poral E. Haie, Scouts J. Mae Lean, I» Howell, V. Eceve, A. Kant, I- Duty check and S. Cornwall. A feature throughout the evening was that asf scout wax liable to be called on to give a short Item, mealy in the form of * catchy recitation-, am] every toy costributed in this way. The Scoutmaster, Mr L. L flowed, briefly thanked those present for their attendance and help. The tinging was under the directive of Mr Ewart Ariesal, and the drill, under Assistant - Scoutmaster P.
