OTAKI TOWN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. Tho ordinary monthly meeting of the 1 Otaki Town Board was held last night. Eg Present: Corns. H. H. Ollivcr (in tin j. chair), J. Meads, P. Rikihana, and E Eg Nicol'son. Owing to the absence through M indisposition of the Clerk, Com. Nicolsou was appointed acting-clerk. Apologies for absence were received ; from Coins. Brown, D ’Atk, and Noble. Correspondence. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: ■ From the Treasury, asking the Boar; 1 to use its best endeavours to help make the Victory AVar Loan as great a success as was the case with the last war loan Decided to support it, the Chairman inviting all to do their best to assist He said it was for every right thiuking man to do his utmost. I From P. and T. Department, stating . the district engineer would utilise the i footpath on the post office side of Mjll Road as far as the junction of A otaki * Street for the installation of -ffinlet- -. ground cables. The work wonKM-c«! carried out in the near future, ank plans would be sent to the Board fot approval.—Received. From Bank of New Zealand advising the Board that its application for na advance limit of £I4SO had been approved.—Received. From British General Electric Co, Ltd., stating it desired to tender for Otnki’s electric lighting scheme work. 1 and asking when tho matter was likely to lie done. —Received. From Under-Sccretarv. forwarding ( copy of Ordcr-iu-Couneil, authorising the erection of electric lines for Otaki. Received. From a AVelHngton firm offering ' cement at 5s lOd per bag, £3 5.s per toa ex store, or £5 7s (id f.o.r.—Decided ta 1 order fourteen tons, in two ton lots, for 1 street improvement. From Geo. Gallagher, asking permis- -. sion to prosecute an old offender, who persisted in running his horse on tht road. —Decided to give tlie offender om ' more warning, and if the offence war repeated to summon him. > ' Roadman's Report. s R. Webby (roadman) reported that ,- all roads were in fair order, and that - pipes at the intersection of streets wen being put in. He expected the work ta be completed in the course of a ft* ! days. Ho also mentioned that as toes as the cement was to hand he would ' start on footpath improvement. The Chairman pointed out that the C! cement would be ordered at once, and 1 stated it would take one ton of cement 1 per chain. It was agreed that the 'j cement be laid in blocks. Accounts.
