HOROWHENUA DEFEAT MANAWATTX. ' The Horowhenua representative foot- | ball team played a return match ; against the llanawatu representative I team on the Palmerston North show ; grounds on Wednesday afternoon. Horowhenua had the advantage of weight among the forwards, while the visitor.-' back division had also the stronger combination. Although Mahawatu were favoured with the wind in the first spell, they failed to take full advantage of it, and the visitors had the best of the game throughout. There was no score in the first spell, and it was only a few minutes before time was sounded that X. Winiata crossed the line for Horowhenua. The store emanated from a series of line-outs, and finally a so rum near the home team's line. Tho kick at goal failed. The game ended: Horowhenua. 3 points"; Manawatu, nil.
