ADDINGTON MARKET. Christchurch, September 24. At Addington market there were smaller yardings of store sheep. There was a good demand, and the tone of the market' was very firm. Two-tooth ewes 28s, two and four-tooth 38s, two, four and six-tooth 31s 9d to 375, four, six and .eight-tooth 33s to 35s Bd, four and six-tooth wethers 35s 4d, ewe hoggets 27s 7d, mixed sex hoggets 23s 9d to 29s Sd, wether hoggets 16s 8d to 20s Id: .
Pat Cattle. —258 were yarded, the quality being mixed. The market opened at last week's rates and hardened towards the finish. Extra prime steers to £33 15s Sd, prime £l9 to £26 10s, ordinary £l2 10s to £lB, extra prime heifers to £22 15s, prime £l6 to £l9 10s, ordinary £lO 5s to £ls 10s, extra prime cows £2l 15s, prime £l3 to £IS, ordinary £S 17s (3d to £l2. Pat Sheep.—A very small yarding, barely four races being filled. Tho general quality was rather below last week 'a and only a few were extra heavy, sorts, ''lho demand was exceptionally keen, and prices soared up and up until they reached from 6s to 8s above last week's high rates. The result of these high will be a
demand for meat ex freezing store, fiie range of prices was: Extra prime wethers to Sis, prime 45s 6d to 765, medium 42s 6d to 15s, lighter 33s to 10s, extra prime ewes to 60s, prime 45s to 51k 9d, men; urn 40s to 42s 6d, lighter 33s to 35s 6d, hoggets '26s to 42s Gd. Store Cattle.—An improved lot were offered, and there was an average demand. Two-year-old steers £5 12s 6d, two-year-old heifers .EG ss, yearlings £4 10s," cales £1 2s to £2 135.. Gd, cows £5 12s Gd to £8 15s.
Dairy Cows. —The varus were about on a-par with last week, with a better demand. Second and third calvers £lO to £l7, others £0 to £l.O, springing heifers £7 to £l2 10s.
Vcalers. —A poor entry was offered . consisting mainly of newly-dropped' calves. Good calves 70s to 90s, fair 41s to 60s, small and inferior 4s to 38s. Pigs.—A medium entry of store pigs and better demand. Best stores 60s to 68s, medium 52s to 58s, small 35s to 15s, weaners 25s to 355. There was an average entry of fat pigs. The demand I was not so keen. Extra heavy baconers to £S 10s. heavy £6 10s to £7 17s, ; medium £5 to £6 (equal to lOd per lb), heavy porkers Sss to 90s, medium 65s | to 75s (equal to lid per lb), choppers | £6 to £9.
