The men's championship this season was robbed of a great deal of its interest by the withdrawal of the club's two strongest players. Messrs Kirk and Wintcrburn. Still sonic interesting and closely fought contests have been held. O'Rourke effected a surprise by beating a strong player in Griffiths, only to be beaten in his turn by I'. Simcox. Hopkins defeated Brown after a keen battle. P. Siineox and Hopkins are thus left to fight out the iiua! over 30 holes ■;■>..■■#■%&-£ The ladies' last event—a bisque bogey—was won by Mrs A. A. Bright. It is a pity (he club is losing this promising player owing to her removal to Wellington. - 'if.-ftvjf In the men's events Mr Kirk has won two bogey competitions. He is playing a very strong game, and it will be many years yet before the handicappcr can take liberties with him. The following is the draw for the miNied foursomes to be played on Saturday next: —Miss Skernian and Brown. Mrs Hodgson and Griffiths. Miss Qnill and Hedditch. Miss O'Rourke and Bennett, Mrs "Wintcrburn and Atmore, Miss B. O'Rourke and Sievers. Mrs R. D'Ath and O'Rourke, Mrs Blatlnvayt and Kirk. The competition will be against bogey. IS holes, with full bogey handicaps to be used as bisques.
