Griffiths (secretary and iHfcaeurcr) submitted the report and ■Bttcc congratulated members on a HSriy successful season, considering SHakt so many young men were away at BtftljO war. Only two matches had been jßjtiiycd, both against teams from AVolHBlgton, in which the club had done IfL-lv woH. The cluli was losing MSferal good members, in the person of jH&ss J. Fearless, Rev. Hcdley White and Mr Bowler (treaM®er), all of whom had done excellent BHrvicc for the club, but already many f| ' V.v members were assured. Referring IpiP the finances, it was hoped that the overdraft would be considerably reduced during the coming year. The thanks of the club were due to their president (Mr M. Simcox) for a goner* ous donation. It was suggested that a working bee be held to put the courts in order for the opening of the season. The balancc-sbcef showed that tho overdraft had been increased during the year from £29 18s 6d to £3O 16». This was due to the fact that a large sum had been expended in repairs to fences and courts. The subscriptions and entry fees amounted to £23 12s 6d, and the donations to £4 Gs 7d. The following new members were duly elected:—Misses D’Ath and Tews, Messrs Stivers, D'Ath (2), Tews (2), and Atmorc. Several resignations wore duly received with regret. The election of officers resulted a* under:—President, Mr AV. IT. Simcox; vice-presidents, Messrs B. C. Kirk and Frank Penn; hon, secretary and treasurer, Mr C. T. Atmorc; committee, Misses O’Rourke, Booth and Bennett, Messrs Hedditeh, P. Tabiwi, W. Ben* nett and Tews; hon. auditor, Mr B, Witchell. It was resolved to open the season on the second Saturday in October (October 11th). It was decided that the committee meet on the courts on Thursday after* neon next to ascertain what h requires to put the courts in order in readiness for the opening of the season. The matter of »ncraa*sng the mem* bership fees was briefly discussed, and Mr Atmore gave notice to move at a special general meeting to be held for the purpose that the subscription fees be increased to the following:—Men, £1 11s Od; ladies, 15»e M; bon. meat* ber@ (men), £1 Is, The matter of placing the finances of the club on a better footing was discos sed, and a saggestisn was made that negotiations be opened with a view to securing the freehold of the club's leasehold. Messrs Simeon, Atmore and Penn were deputed to interview tho owner of the property re the matter, and to report to a general meeting. The meeting closed with a -vote of thanks to Mr Griffiths (retiring secretary) for splendid service* rendered, and to the chairman for presiding.
