THE RAILWAY “CUT.”
IMPROVED SERVICE NEST WEEK. Mr Massey stated in tlie House yesterday tliat, commencing next week, tie following arrangements in respect to • express trains would be made:—Auck-land-Wellington and' Wellington-Amck-land, two trains per week each way; Auckland-Rotorua and Ilotorua-Auck-!and, ditto; Wellington-New Plymouth and New Plymouth-Wcllington, ditto; Palmerston North-Napier and NapicrPalnicrston North, ditto; ChristchurchDunedin and Dunedin-Christchurch, and 'Dunedin-Invercargill and InvercargillDunedin, ditto; Eambton-Woodville and Woodville-Lnmbtou, ditto; goods trains on branch lines, two trains per week. Each of the foregoing trains will bo rigidly restricted to a one-engine load, and for that reason the permit system must be continued in the meantime. In respect to goods traffiCj relief is gradually being given by' running special tr;iins where practicable, and in addition the engines of express services referred to herein will bo utilised for the conveyance of goods traffic.
