HOT MAI (3) V. LEVIN (0)

This match was played at Levin and ’resulted as stated above. It wait aa evently-contested game throughout, 'and looked like being a draw;- but Hui Mai was there when the death knock came, L. Melville scoring the only and winning try just before call of time. Mr W. Broughton controlled the game. I For the winners Silbery at full play-

ed a sound game, making no mistakes. H. Royal, Hiwi and Joe Ranslield were . the pick of the xesjt. In the forward division 1C Ranslield, Melville and 'Grey were the best. This win puts Hui Mai in the lead, having 10 points, Levin 8 points, Shannon 7, and Otaki in the rear with 1 point.

OTAKI-V. SHANNON—A DRAW. This match was played at Manakau and resulted in a drawn game—no score. The game was even throughout, but Otaki was unfortunate oil two or three occasions, certain tries being missed, the ball slipping away from the players’ hands on account of being too greasy to hold. Soon after the start Tom Napier had to be carried off, fracturing his collar-bone. Mr J. Smith was Tcferee. For Shannon Mnngham and Perry were the pick in the back division, and Johnson and Mira in the forwards. For Otaki Kiriona proved a bit too light at full, and in a tight squeeze unreliable. In the three-quarter lino, Itikihana and Enoka were right off colour, Webby being the only oiie at home. Both the five-eighths, Bowden and Baker, played sterling games, but Fogden at half was a treat to watch, being the best back player on the ground. His kicking, passing, etc., was magnificent. August on the wing was not at his best. The mainstay in the pack were Field and Tuna, while Rotter aud Harvey showed up at intervals. In fact, all the forwards did their “bit.”
