MORE TROUBLE.

COAL MINE ON FIRE.

Duncdin, August 11. A serious mishap occurred at the Kaitangata No. 2 coal mine on Saturday, which will result in the mine being closed for some time. Apparently a rake of boxes, loaded with coal, louled the rings supporting steel plates and sand at the seat of a long-estab-lished fire, which had been stopped. Two of the rings were dislodged, allowing air to reach the smouldering fire. The place was a mass of flame instantly. -■\s it was pay Saturday the mine was practically idle, but one horse and rake of trucks were burnt. Some vehicTes were got out of the mine today, but it is believed that the dip will have to be stopped at the main drive to get the fire under control.
