MANAKAU.

1 A general meeting of the Manakau Lawn Tennis Club was held last, night, Mr Andrew presiding. The various sub-committees set up in connection with Friday night’s Special function in aid of the club’s funds made their reports, showing that (everything was well in hand, and the prospects wore reassuring. Final arrangements in connection with the entertainment were made. After discussing the improvements being made to the courts, the meeting decided to pass a progress payment of £2O to the contractor. The contractor reported that lie hoped to have everything completed in time for the opening bf the season. It was reported that working bees had done good work at the courts. The meeting decided to hold the annual meeting of the Club ou the last Thursday in August. At the commencement of the above meeting, on the motion of the chair- . man. a vote of sympathy was passed 1 Sfr C. Cotter, in the death of his sister’s husband (Mr W. Cleland).
